Kennexstone Farm Camping, Gower Peninsular, Wales

The Gower Peninsular in Wales is beautiful part of the world, so many lovely beaches, such a relaxed place.  We camped at Kennexstone Farm camping.  It is a lovely site with a number of large fields.  Each field has fresh water and big bins in the middle and plenty of space for kids to run around and play.

Ball games aren’t banned, but campfires, sadly, are.

The pitches are relatively level and very even.  The grass beautifully maintained.

There is a small shop, with very reasonable prices, dishwashing and washing, drying facilities; A separate wetsuit washing area helps keep showers clean and sand free.

The staff are very friendly and helpful.

The toilets and showers were lovely and clean, water temperatures just right, whenever we went.  However, I thought they inadequate in numbers at busy times. One morning I had to queue just to wash my hands, because lots of people were going through their morning routine, brushing their teeth.   There is only one shower block for the whole campsite, a single disabled washroom, which doubles as a family room.

We paid £130 for 5 nights with electric hook up, which I found a fair price.

Eating local:

While we were there a butcher came around the site every couple of days and had some well priced produce.  I bought sausages, hamburger (the best I’ve had for a long while) and treated myself to a rumpsteak too.  He also had eggs.  All reasonably priced and locally produced and processed.

Along the roads there are quite a few honesty produce stalls with fresh fruit and veg.  We stopped at a place advertising new potatoes.  A very very old lady served us and we bought the most delicious spud ever- £1.50 for 5lb.

Pimms o'clock- I knew those colourful plastic ice cubes would come in handy one day! :-)
