The Gadget-loving Mum’s perfect Mother’s Day present

by Mumonthebrink 1 Comment

The kids arrived back from the post office with a lovely package today: It was filled with lots of little accessories for their gadget-loving mum, always attached to her smartphone!  I much prefer useful electronics to a bunch of flowers, especially when beautifully packaged like this.

Getting the box was a bit like Christmas.  I couldn’t wait to open it!

Inside I found, wrapped, lovingly with colour tissue:

A selfie stick

My selfie stick recently broke when one naughty mummy, aka me, didn’t put it away properly and it went flying.  This new one is a wireless selfie stick from PNY.  There is a shooter button on the handle and it’ll fit both our compact camera and my mobile.  This gadget-loving mum can’t wait to give it a try on the weekend!

A lens kit for the phone

Forever taking photos with my phone and winging about how I should bring the big camera for better close ups or getting the wider angle that my bridge camera allows… this mobile phone lens kits, with 4 different lenses– a superwide, a fisheye, a wide and a macro lense-  should take some of that frustration away.

I look forward to playing with the different lenses and no doubt will bore you all with pictures over on Instagram and Twitter. 😉

A mobile power bank

Last weekend we went to Stockholm for a daytrip.  It was such a lovely day I couldn’t help tweet and Instagram live all the beautiful sights and share the fun we were having. Just after lunch my phone battery was starting to give up, my old power bank gave up after boosting the phone charge by a quarter. I had to stop sharing, because our electronic day pass for the train and the underground was on the phone and power had to be conserved long enough to get us home. (Of course I’d forgotten to bring an actual plug-in charger!)

Now I have a new, special pink mobile powerbank– pink for breast cancer support, with part of the proceeds from sales donated to breast cancer research- and a pink USB cable to go with it

A 16GB USB Flash Drive

There is no such thing as too many backups!  Since my laptop crashed 18 months ago and I lost all the data, including photos that were finally neatly organised, I have become crazy about backing up.

I have 3 back ups, at least, of all documents and pictures. This cute 16GB Roxy USB drive will be labelled and hold all the pictures from winter and spring of 2017… unless Angelina steals it!  She’s been eyeing it up ever since I unpacked it. I have to admit… it is very cute and girlie.  Good for mums, but also good for girlie girls like my daughter.

  • Backing up your pictures and documents, my strategy
