How often do we just rush from one thing to the other to the other?
At the moment, I’m trying to get my head around our new life: Dadonthebrink in Sweden, the rest of us home in England. Sure he’s back on some weekends, but I miss having him here every day. And the kids really miss him too; he’s always been a very hands-on dad.
We’ve been so lucky over the past months to have spent some really special times together. Yet in the rush of the day-to-day we forget about the good times. This morning I was looking through some of the pictures from this past weekend: we went for a stroll in Oxford and took some great family shots. These make me smile, they give me a tingle and boost for the rest of the day.
Trying to get us all into a picture is never easy. We laughed so much trying though.
My beautiful girl, Angelina. She was such a happy little lady this weekend. She made a little flower bracelet in the park.
Boys will be boys! These two love wrestling, rolling around in the grass. Their laughter and love for each other is so uplifting to observe. I’d love to bottle the joy of these times!
Not a bad view, is it? That the pretty Oxford skyline
As I glimpsed up from my morning coffee, I spotted our fridge door. It’s a mess of papers, old pictures and random magnets. It is a door at the centre of our home, one we look at lots of times in a day. …actually, we may look at it, but don’t really see it, because all the things on there just add to my to do list. I wonder why we have Hugo’s nursery picture on there- he is almost 7!
Now, I reckon this is the perfect time take the HP Free your Pictures challenge! (A challenge I was given months ago, but let the daily grind get in the way.)
Why would I let the memories of fabulous weeks and weekends fade?!
My fridge is undergoing a makeover! First a clean on the inside, then a total reorganisation inside and out.
Here’s the plan for the next week:
1, I’ll go through pictures from the last 6 months, printing inspirational ones and making a fridge gallery. (I find Kelly’s fridgebook makeover a total inspiration, over at Domestic Goddesque. Check it out!)
2, Then on each Tuesday, I’m going to pick at least one picture of the past week and pop that on our fridge gallery.
3, The oldest pictures will come off and go into a special scrapbook. I hope I can involve the kids in creating the stories that go into the scrapbook.
Give me your hints and tips for displaying the pictures on the fridge please!
Scrapbooking enthusiasts, have you any hints and tips for me?
I see all these Fridge Stations on Pinterest- you use them to log and categorised all the essential paperwork on your fridge, leaving more space to fill with fun photos. This project has been great: I hadn’t realised how few pictures I printed off these days! In fact, you’ve reminded me to get on with doing some new ones!
Hi Kelly, The idea of a full blown fridge station scares me. I want my fridge door to be captured happiness instead of dreaded to do lists. 🙂
I look forward to your fridge door update.
I love taking pictures and printing them out too. I am sure you will have a brilliant adventure in sweden!
I don’t very often print pictures, but I think you can get personalised fridge magnets made and that might be quite fun.
love the idea of printing photos onto magnets – my boys have some magnetic boards in their bedrooms so this would be an idea for them. You have a beautiful family – hope all goes well with Sweden! x
I have to admit I don’t print pictures as much as I should, I have some magnets I had printed from instagram pictures though and they are fab! x
My fridge is pretty bare. I like to pin everything on my notice board. I like to print off photos of fun times and combine them with certificates the kids bring home from school.
Ah you have a lovely family! 🙂
I love the scrapbooks that the Americans are really into with all the embellishments.
My fridge looks like yours!! Love the picture of you all, glad you finally managed the shot x
It can be so hard when your partner works away can’t it, I found it really difficult, thankfully he doesn’t work away too much anymore. I love printing out photos and my fridge is a haven of memories 🙂
Oxford is fantastic, loads to do and such a beautiful place to go. It must be so hard living apart but cherish the special times together making memories
oh what a wonderful idea to rotate pictures and then pop them into a book to keep! i might even have a go myself!
Awww, lovely post. i really need to print more pictures too.
