About a month ago I went to a press event for Aldi. It was also a round table for mums and their buyer of baby products, introducing their range and talking about the things they are doing.
Even though Aldi my favourite supermarket, as is on the other side of town I probably only go once every 3-4 weeks. For me it has just the right balance of choice versus overwhelming choice. I can do a shop so much quicker than in a large supermarket like Tesco. I am biased towards their slightly more continental selection too.
I popped in the day before the event to take a quick look at what they actually have in their baby section- I usually only get nappies and their squeezy baby food pouches, which are our emergency supply for when I’m out and about.
It’s actually a decent range:
At the event, Aldi talked about their principles of having special events at certain times of the year when they extend the range for a special sale and showed us some of the things that will be included.
One of the items that caught my attention was a digital ear thermometer. I was happy to have been able to bring it home to test.
Initially, I was a bit sceptical, as we have 2 other ear thermometers, one even being a Braun. Both are rubbish! They do not show anywhere close to what a traditional thermometer measures underarm. I’ve resorted to using those forehead strips instead.
Aldi’s Ear thermometer is a revelation though-
– The readings match that of the traditional thermometer closely.
– It gives you a reading very quickly, which is a must with a wriggly baby.
– I love that you can use it as a forehead thermometer or an ear thermometer- there’s a little button on it to switch between the two.
– What I initially thought was a gimmick, a talking thermometer, telling you the temp, I have found very useful in low light with a snuffly child.
– As a bonus the thermometer also displays the time and the room temperature.
Do you know what the best bit is? ….It’s only £12.99!
I really like this product and have subsequently recommended it to family all over, who’ve bought it in Aldi there.
Check out some of the other baby and toddler products hitting Aldi stores intermittently for a limited time.
I know I’m going to try to get down to a store to pick up some bargains myself! I’ve added dummies, some cups, nappies and those cool patterned muslins to my shipping list. And another thermometer for sure for friend expecting. 🙂
Disclosure- as I said, I got the thermometer for free, got coffee and lunch in return for chatting to their buyer and other blogger mums. However, I genuinely believe their products are great value and stand by all opinions expressed.
