I just love learning and besides the children, techie stuff is the other area that gives me that challenge daily.
In the past 2 weeks most of my learning has been directed at blog design: I started off just 3 months ago on a WordPress site, then a couple of weeks ago I decided to move my blog over to a self-hosted WordPress package. Now, for all my sins, I am trying to learn the ins and outs of SEO, rankings, etc. (A bit of a hit and miss at the moment I must say).
I had some great help from Chrissie Saunders at ICT connections to kick start me on the journey. She actually blogged my blog makeover with before and after screenshots. You can see it HERE.
My next challenge is creating a vlog… which I had promised to do a week ago (in my Smartphone upgrade dilemma post), but the powers to be have thrown lots of hurdles in front of me: First , my laptop died. (Now I am using an old spare machine I have borrowed, till I figure out what to do and rearrange budgets to do it.) Then I couldn’t find a shop that would allow me to film. After zillions of calls, lots of dead ends, the one that finally came through didn’t have a demo of one of the three phones I wanted vlog about. But I have triumphed! I now have the raw footage for the vlog. …and now comes another really steep learning curve- I have to edit it- chop together the short snippets and photos, remove the sound from it and record a new narrative soundtrack for it, finally merging it all together. Not just that, I will have to figure out how to upload and link in to a new post.
… watch this space.
Can you help- what can I use to do the editing? and the soundtrack?
How long do you reckon it will take? I’m taking bets. The odds are against me as I have never done this before!
