Here’s a confession… as far as I can remember, our kids had never been to see Father Christmas in his grotto.
Was it because it felt a bit kitsch, or perhaps simply because preschool or school had always done the job for us by providing Father Christmas or Dutch Sinterklaas at the right moment?
Either way round, Santa’s grotto was now shrouded in mystery and magic equal to none, and having had a tantalising glimpse at a different Santa’s grotto from afar at the Winter Wonderland a few weeks ago, Wyvale’s Garden Centre in Bicester was left with big boots to fill.
‘Mummy, so you think Father Christmas is real?’
‘What do you think?’
‘Yes I think he must be. But I think God must have told him about my broken crackle stone!’
Do your little one’s still believe? How do you answer the dreaded question?
Wyevale Garden Centres charge £8 per child for a visit to Santa in his Grotto. Each child receives a gift, which is around the value of the entry fee.
