Half term- What have you got planned?

What have you got planned for this half term? Outdoor adventures or indoor fun?

(Let me disclose in advance- this is NOT a sponsored/paid for/featured post,an advertorial or how ever you can call it!) :-)

Over past weeks I’ve been receiving emails about things we can get up to over the bank holiday weekend and the half term.  Lots of free things, some festivals, we have a funfair near us over the weekend, the lure of a grand adventure still urging me to pack the kids and the car on a journey of discovery across the UK.

The weather is forecast to be rainy and changeable.  Baah!  I’ve had enough of that! And to top it all Dadonthebrink has a critical deadline at work so won’t be able to join us. Boo!

I’ve decided to fight the cabin fever and still get out- Ditch the screen, don the wellies and reaincoats.

I’m a big fan of the 50 things campaign initiated by the National Trust.

Yesterday in preparation, I registered Hugo and Angelina on the 50 Things To Do Before You’re 11&¾ website. After school we watched this little clip

and then I  gave them their scrapbooks.

Angelina set about immediately trying to climb a tree- the only ones we have in the garden have no lower branches. She monkey climbed up a mostly bare trunk of a confer and came in proudly showing where the small branch stumps has scratched her.  Then, while I was busy making dinner, she snuck out and planted 400 forget me nots in a single large pot with our blueberry bush in it.  This 6 year old has initiative!  …but still needs supervision. :-)

For more inspiration head over to The Boy and Me who has a number of posts linked on the subject or there is a weekly link up on Fiona’s blog about outdoor antics.

We are going camping at least for one night, might get to learn about bees too.

We’ll see how we evolve our plans.

Last week this advert also landed in my inbox and I had to laugh. I’m sure I will, at some point during the week, just hand over my phone and tablet to the kids too- Kid’s Corner has saved my sanity a couple of times in the past weeks.  :-D

Then next weekend I am handing the reigns over to Dadonthebrink and I’m going to CYBHER!!! Yippee!!!Are you coming?

What have you got planned for the weekend? And for the week?
