In our family Cbeebies alone already makes paying the TV licence fees worthwhile. This wonderful advertisement- free channel has allowed Dadonthebrink and I to have an extra hour of sleep on many mornings, when Little Man has woken on the wrong side of 7.30am, peaceful breastfeeding sessions, quiet children during the “witching hour” (you know that’s the hour or so just before dinner, when they are hungry, tired and at each other’s throats every other minute).
A little while ago I asked Little Man, who is the most avid consumer of the contents of the channel in our household, which were his favourite programs: “My best shows are Tree Fu Tom, Mike, the knight and Andy’s World Adventures” (…that’s Andy’s Wild Adventures to you and me.) After this when we were approached to review Andy’s new show I naturally accepted the offer.
Andy and his childhood friend Mike (in real life!) have created and star in a pantomimesque show Andy and Mike’s Tick Tock Time Machine, in which Andy & Mike stumble across a mysterious machine locked away in the garden of their ‘Fun Pad’ many years before, by their great, great, great Grandfather Wally Bum, their adventure begins… Met by the machine’s guardian, they are sent on a time-travel quest. The intrepid duo must collect items from both the past and the future, whilst avoid being trapped in the mists of time forever. Will they make it? One thing’s certain… they haven’t a chance without the audience’s help.
The début of the show was in Edinburgh at the fringe festival, receiving good reviews as a show fit for all ages from 3 to 99 years old. (It is recommended for 3 year +). Now they are hitting the road and touring with this show with the following dates:
